Fathers are the ones called to work for their families.
Adam was to till the ground.
We as co-heirs with Jesus now have supernatural favour to receive every good thing from God.
New men in Christ can now work and cater for their families without fear of drought, attack from the canker worm or enemies planting tares.
Men in Christ are loving husbands and responsible fathers.
They are good sons and sons-in-law and neighbours and colleagues.
They lead their families to church to fellowship with other brethren and not neglect their gathering.
They lead prayers at home and on the way as they nurture their families.
They do not fight or beat their wives and neither do they abuse their children.
In applying the proverb of don't spare the rod in order not to spoil the child, they are able to discipline their children in loving ways without sowing seeds of hate, vengeance and stubbornness.
They don't spend their money on alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, snuff, gambling or strange women and father various children in various places by various women.
They believe what Jesus said that what God has joined together, let no man or themselves put asunder.
They believe that their very own wives with all their imperfections are the virtuous women of Proverbs and so they boast of them by the gates and in the cities.
They appreciate their industry and encourage their progress. They eat their food, cook for them, and drive their cars and don't withhold them from driving theirs.
They can do for them what they want done to them.
There is love even if they soak garri and live under the bridge.
There is love even when they eat salad and abide in mansions.
There is love even when she is taller, smarter, richer, more educated, more influential, but yet loving, respectful and humble.
He can hold her bag and carry the baby while she walks, even if she walks with baby number 2 almost 2 months due.
He can wash her clothes while she lays on the sofa trying to avoid a potential migraine or rejuvenate from stress.
They help her to avoid breaking down or falling ill by caring for her.
They don't take the sides of outsiders, third parties and extended families over her.
But they weigh the matter, apply wisdom and execute justice in love and grace.
They know that those outside also have their homes they are trying to shield or have shredded like sheaves.
So they are mindful of unproductive help and advice.
They shield their homes from attacks, from the serpent, from the friendly foe and from the adversary family.
Are they themselves perfect?
Not by any chance.
They too have their struggles, cravings and urges.
They too have their temptations and weaknesses.
They too have their hedges they are trying to maintain.
They too have their prowling lionesses and roaring lions, all seeking to devour them.
But they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
But they are not alone.
They have them, they their wives, who have made them fathers.
So they also have their children, their girls and boys, or all girls or all boys.
But they are there, beautiful creation gifted by God in the very act of procreation that they were called to partake in.
Now husbands have arrows in their mighty hands.
Oh how happy is the man that has his quiver full of them.
What is the sum total of all these?
The husband's wife shall be as a fruitful vine by his side in their house, his children like olive plants round about his table, and whose own children he shall see, and then rest in peace.
Behold, this is the blessed man who fears the LORD.
