In our general meeting we published our budget for next year and we invite you to please support us to realise what we need to do what we have to in line with our mission and vision. In giving most times, the happiness expressed cuts across the beneficiary, the benefactor and the heavens. Let’s give. It brings happiness. It encourages balance. It contributes to sanity and general well being. Give to yourself, your family, friends, church, causes, please give in TLF, funds are held in trust and used for the activities of the Foundation. How important YOU are!

We stand in solidarity! Too Busy for a Friend? One day a teacher asked her students to list the names of the other students in the room on two sheets of paper, leaving a space between each name. Then she told them to think of the nicest thing they could say about each of their classmates and write it down. It took the remainder of the class period to finish their assignment, and as the students left the room, each one handed in the papers. That Saturday, the teacher wrote down the name of each student on a separate sheet of paper, and listed what everyone else had said about that individual. On Monday she gave each student his or her list. Before long, the entire class was smiling. "Really?" she heard whispered. "I never knew that I meant anything to anyone!" and, "I didn't know others liked me so much." were most of the comments. No one ever mentioned those papers in class again. She never knew if the discussed them after class or with their parents,

Month Review

This month we looked at sub-issues under the theme Solidarity! We in TLF believe in Solidarity which ensures love. Solidarity entails acknowledging everything in another’s life while extending love in living according to God’s Word. We need to love our neighbours as ourselves and if we do not take others the way we meet them, we may find ourselves displaying superiority complex. As a charity and social development organisation, TLF strives to ensure that all concerned- trustees, members, volunteers, beneficiaries, benefactors and all are living in the peace of God. Everyone may not have the position in life and living but we are one in Christ Jesus. Unity is free, so also is our being children of God. Although the Bible talks a lot about love, God tells us we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers as two cannot walk together unless they agree. So what should be our stance? Solidarity is first among we the members of the Body of Christ, by that we can fully function as the nose,

Weekly Outline At Our Centre

OUR WEEKLY OUTLINE Mondays - General Counselling and Prayers We would agree that there is an increase in wrong decisions being taken by many with regards life and death when things don't go well. There is a need for group circle meetings where strength can be pulled from like minded people. It's the same way testimonies of believers help strengthen our faith. Come for counselling and group circle meetings. Tuesdays - Seminars and Workshops Based on our monthly theme we have different sub-themes from which we need to address and formulate action plans as a group. These seminars and workshops also provide opportunities to have filmshows. The effect of having audio-visual meetings can't be overestimated. Come we invite you to attend our weekly workshop, seminar or filmshow. Wednesdays - Ecumenism in Music By bringing people together who have interest in music, we provide in our immediate community, the opportunity for people to sing, have spoken word poetry, learn with the few

TLF Centre News

Yes we did it! To the glory of God, we had our first Breakfast Outreach. We thank all those who made it possible and those who attended and those who sent goodwill messages. Thank God for His faithfulness. We have been able to ensure the upkeep of the TLF Centre. We often receive visitors and others who come to make enquiries. But we cannot have enough of food, drinks, musical instruments, games and sports equipment, diesel and fuel, data credit, call credit, mementoes, bicycles, and many other things we need and use for our various outreaches. But in all we thank God and we urge you to key into our mission and vision in TLF. Join us as we encourage solidarity. #December

Who is my Elizabeth?

Who is my Elizabeth? When Mary, was given the biggest news of her life, she had no husband to confide in.  Her first instinct after her visit from the angel of the Lord was to immediately go out and seek Godly counsel from her cousin Elizabeth.   Mary didn't waste any time, she went with haste. As a Christian woman, who is your Elizabeth? Who do you rush to in a hurry? Who do you seek for your Godly counsel? If you don't have an Elizabeth of your very own, ask God to put one in your life. Below are a few characteristics to look for in your Elizabeth. Your Elizabeth should: •Have a steadfast walk with the Lord. •Give Godly counsel in truth and love. •Encourage you in your walk in faith. •Encourage you in your marriage, studies, career and relationships. •Be someone whom you desire to learn from. •Pray for you and encourage you when you are down and out with life stress. •Rejoice in your successes. •See your God-given gifts and encourage you to use them.   Your Elizabeth

'femi Fairchild Morgan 2 June 2019 Back then, a Christian could marry a Muslim. It was no big deal in the past. My grandfather was a Christian till his dying day and his wife, my grandmother was a Muslim till she passed on. Al'jannah and Heaven were the same things. There was no world war or civil unrest about their union. Ileya was Ileya for everyone. Christmas was awesome for all faiths. Odun Orissa (Put the name there) was a welcome excuse to demand for exotic meat in the pot of soup of an uncle. Life was good. The environment was sane. Standard of living was good. Everyone was proud and happy to be alive. My grandmother was buried according to Islamic rites and her husband according to Christian doctrine. Let's not even talk about Life expectancy and general average age ratios... The rest is left with God and the ancestors These days: The Christians are so 'spiri' that they cannot be evenly yoked to 'unbelievers' and the Alfas in mosques are so prominent

Luke 1:68 About 230 families and individuals live at MacPherson Gardens, Block 72 in my neighborhood. Each person has his or her own life story. On the tenth floor resides an elderly woman whose children have grown up, gotten married, and moved out. She lives by herself now. Just a few doors away from her is a young couple with two kids—a boy and a girl. And a few floors below lives a young man serving in the army. He has been to church before; maybe he will visit again on Christmas Day. I met these people last Christmas when our church went caroling in the neighborhood to spread Christmas cheer. Every Christmas—as on the first Christmas—there are many people who do not know that God has entered into our world as a baby whose name is Jes

“Taking the First Step” By Poh Fang Chia God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 Tham Dashu sensed something was missing in his life. So he started going to church—the same church his daughter attended. But they never went together. In earlier days, he had offended her, which drove a wedge between them. So, Tham would slip in when the singing started and leave promptly after the service ended. Church members shared the gospel story with him, but Tham always politely rejected their invitation to put his faith in Jesus. Still, he kept coming to church. One day Tham fell gravely ill. His daughter plucked up the courage and wrote him a letter. She shared how Christ had changed her life, and she sought reconciliation with her dad. That night, Tham put his faith in Jesus and the family was reconciled. A few days later, Tham died and entered into the presence of Je
Our world is full of dangers. Some things we cannot control, like the Asian tsunami, or road accidents. But there are also times when we choose things which put us in danger. "Do not open the mouth of a snake to see its teeth" is a proverb from the Basotho people of southern Africa. In other words, do not put yourself into a dangerous place. If you have sex with someone you are not married to, you are falling into many dangers including HIV-AIDS. The first time you choose a cigarette or take a dangerous drug, you are going down into a hole that will be very hard to climb out of. These things can take away your health, money, friends or your freedom. Pressure by friends: Very often we do these things, not because we really want to, but because of 'peer pressure' - we do something because we are afraid of what friends think about us. "My friends would light a cigarette and tempt me to smoke, to prove I was a man," It was twelve years before he found a way to s

1 Corinthians 12 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of working, but it is the same God who inspires them all in every one. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are inspired by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized in

The Experience

Every first Friday of December for more than a decade has been a day and night of The Experience organised by House on the Rock Church, Lagos at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). This has been a wonderful gathering of Christians cutting across churches, languages, age and location. I have had the privilege of attending while coming from Ilorin, Ibadan, Ado-Ekiti and Benin City. Let this year's own be as spectacular as always. Let God be praised and worshipped.

The Experience helps to promote Solidarity and removes denominational boundaries

“Removing the Barriers” By Karen Wolfe He is very dear to me but even dearer to you, both as a fellow man and as a brother in the Lord. Philemon 1:16 I saw Mary every Tuesday when I visited “the House”—a home that helps former prisoners reintegrate into society. My life looked different from hers: fresh out of jail, fighting addictions, separated from her son. You might say she lived on the edge of society. Like Mary, Onesimus knew what it meant to live on the edge of society. As a slave, Onesimus had apparently wronged his Christian master, Philemon, and was now in prison. While there, he met Paul and came to faith in Christ (v. 10). Though now a changed man, Onesimus was still a slave. Paul sent him back to Philemon with a letter urging him to receive Onesimus “no longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother” (Philem. 1:16). Philemon had a choice to make: He could treat Onesimus as his slave or welcome him as a brother in Christ. I had a choice to make too. Would I s

December Theme

Our thematic issue for this month is Solidarity. It is the last month of the year and by this time we have covered all the relevant days marked by the United Nations to bring awareness to different life issues. What we have done in TLF is to harmonise these different days from each month and place under a theme for each month. Being the final month, you would notice that even some of the days set aside for the month of December have been dealt with earlier in the year under a relevant theme. In this month we would see how advocating for Zero Discrimination Day is key to achieving solidarity among the only superior race- the human race. Also consider the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination who would know that by this time of the 21st century we would still be addressing injustices and issues of racism? Look at the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development  it is set aside to celebrate and advance our individual cultural diversities that ar
