Go out and wish people a Merry Christmas. Please do not use ‘xmas’. It looses its meaning. Even if you are typing a text and there is no space, remove other words, but always spell it fully. It is Christ’s mass not ‘x’. No xmas no xtian. But Christmas, Christian Christ is the reason for the season, when you try to 'x' Him out you cease to celebrate Christmas but your own party. In this month of December, our feature Organisation is KIVA . Jessica Jackley has delivered a lecture on ‘Poverty, money -- and love’ where she talked about the works of Kiva in TED Talks. Kiva is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty. They envision a world where all people - even in the most remote areas of the globe - hold the power to create opportunity for themselves and others. They also believe in providing safe, affordable access to capital to those in need which helps people create better lives for themselves and their families. CAPRO organises outreaches, film shows, trains and mobilizes missionaries to go into the world and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. They work together with corps members and students of tertiary institutions as well as others with a passion to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who have not heard and received. In this month of September, our feature organisation is the Gideon Bible Society. The Gideon’s International has one simple and clearly defined aim: to win men, women and young people for the Lord Jesus Christ. On 1 July 1899, a meeting was called in the YMCA, Janesville, Wisconsin. Although only three men were present - John H Nicholson, Samuel E Hill and Will J Knights One of them said, "If God is in this thing, He will give us a name; let's pray about it." It was Will Knights. One of them after prayer, rose to his feet and said that he had the name of the project they were to start – Gideon’s. He read Judges 6 and 7, which showed several reasons for adopting this name. The proposal that Gideon’s should provide a Bible for every hotel room was adopted by the Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1908. Ever since then the Gideon International has distributed free copies of complete Bibles to hotels and New Testament Copies to schools, on the streets, etc. We pray
