DECEMBER TRACT

DRIVE TO ARRIVE

A number of people will be killed annually due to the dangers inherent in the process of driving. There are many efforts in place to make the process of motor vehicle transport as safe as possible. Operators are required to be qualified and licensed. Congestion, visibility, weather, roadway or traffic control mis-function, vehicle breakdown, etc can cause collision and death. Human error like distraction by the car's media entertainment features, or by passengers, or worries that “I'm late and if I don't drive like mad I may lose my job, home, family and life will become as harder, I'll take the chance.” Corporations should not be allowed to bribe the motor vehicle regulatory system into allowing drivers to operate cell phones or other handheld electronic devices in moving vehicles. Or eat while operating. Or distract themselves in any of an assortment of definable ways when driving. Speed and alcohol are the biggest contributing factors.
You want to know how to drive to arrive?
#1 wear your seatbelt.
#2 look both ways before you enter any intersection.
#3 obey the traffic laws and laws on morality and good conscience
People need to realize they're not as important as they think they are. Slow down. On highways, on city streets, everywhere. One thing that I don't think anyone has addressed is that cars are faster and more powerful today than a couple of decades ago. I have always felt that the folks who are trying to create a zero risk society are looking at a half empty glass. The modern automobile and road system allows relatively untrained non-professionals, (not pilots, train drivers, or sea captains), travel anywhere, anytime in darkness and bad weather. There is always room for improvement. We must make it clear that speed limits are maximum speeds -- not MINIMUM speed, not SUGGESTED speed, MAXIMUM speed. Enforce rigorously for long enough for the message to sink in.--- by David Isenbergh. Psalm 119: 117 Hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I shall observe Your statutes continually. Obey traffic laws so you can drive to arrive.

For us in TLF we are going to be focusing on Enterprise aka Labour aka Work for the entire month of June. We are urged to work. If you do not work how would you meet your daily needs? Like food, shelter, clothings and transportation? What about having what to give to others in need? There are so many reasons to work. I know many of us love to do what we love, we do not like to go to work if we do not like the job. But what if what you are doing as work and being paid for is actually what you love? What you love may not turn out to be a source of income, but we must still do what we can to earn. Are you enterprising? Please keep it up. Are you in paid labour in the private or public sector? Please do your work as unto the Lord God. Are you working all by yourself as a self employed worker? Please continue to grow and progress for greatness. Always know that in - Happy moments, praise God.  Difficult moments, seek God.  Quiet moments, worship God.  Painful moments, trust ...

UN Days for the Month of June.

The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organization. Usually, it is one or more Member States that propose these observances and the General Assembly establishes them with a resolution. On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialized agencies of the United Nations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be later adopted by the General Assembly. 1 June Global Day of Parents   3 June World Bicycle Day  4 June International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression   5 June World Environment Day  5 June International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing  8 June World Oceans Day   12 June World Day Against Child Labour 13 June International Albinism Awarene...

Today is the second part of our D Day for the month of August!

Today is the second part of our D Day for the month of August! Although this celebration is marked in the month of May, we have harmonised all relevant sub-themes dealing with family and youth under this month of August.  15th of May is International Day of Families.  We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form of activity or the other to promote wholesome family life and the true meaning of family.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember - Matthew 12:49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! Psalm 113:Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!
