In line with our theme New Beginning we invite you to mark the following dates this year when we would be carrying out activities on acts of charity and social development.
January is our month if charity and social development!
On the 19th of August is World Humanitarian Day (we recommend you watch “Which country does the most good for the world” by Simon Anholt).
On the 5th of September is International Day of Charity (we recommend you watch “Want to make a difference? Don't Work for a Charity” by William MacAskill).
The 16th of October is World Food Day (we recommend you watch “The global food waste scandal” by Tristram Stuart).
The 17th of October is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (we recommend you watch “The good news on poverty (Yes, there's good news)” by Bono).
The 24th of October is the United Nations (we recommend you watch “Our priorities for saving the world” by Bjorn Lomborg).
On the 10th of November is the World Science Day for Peace and Development (we recommend you watch “Eye in the Sky”).
On the 5th of December is the International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development (we recommend you watch “Making Charity Fun” by Jehan Ratnatunga).
While 10th of December is Human Rights Day (we recommend you watch “Cyberbully”).
UNITED NATIONS
There are days observed by the United Nations. The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organization. Usually, it is one or more Member States that propose these observances and the General Assembly establishes them with a resolution. On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialized agencies of the United Nations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be later adopted by the General Assembly.
Why are these days important to us even as early as January? This is because these days play a role in adding to the sum total of our Aim and Objectives in TLF.
Therefore, our work throughout the year will reflect some UN days as well as other memorable days, birthdays and remembrances.
Join us on such designated days to spread love.
