Greetings in love,
Hope our day went well and we are in good health

Before the unfortunate event of the Cyclone Idai which happened in Africa on Friday, many individuals, groups, NGOs, Foundations and Charities had their plans, projects and budgeted to-do-list.

But just as things happen in life that we don't plan for, this Cyclone happened.

In this month of March, our focus in TLF is on Nature and the Environment. As part of our activities for the 31 days, we listed out certain days the United Nations set out to commemorate certain events bordering on nature and the environment.

[Even though they are many other activities and special days in the month of March like for example, today is World Poetry Day and yesterday was International Day for Happiness!]

We as a Foundation would like to add to our to-do-list a response to an email we got from Elisabeth, a VSO volunteer. The email reads:

"My family and I have just been through the most terrifying ordeal of our lives. We are lucky enough to still be here to tell you what happened when cyclone Idai hit Mozambique last Friday. I’m Ugandan, volunteering with VSO as a communications coordinator. I’m living in Chimoio, a small town in Western Mozambique, with my husband and my one-year-old daughter Emmanuela. When the cyclone hit, a terrifying roar surrounded us. We held our daughter tightly and tried to comfort her. No food, no power, no clean water and no way in or out. When it eventually stopped, three days later, I looked outside and all I could see was dirty water and devastation. Many people died here, but our town is not the worst affected. The coastal city of Beira has been completely destroyed and is still cut off. ©VSO/Tafadzwa Ufumeli"

What can you do to help?
Yours sincerely,

In Nigeria our country there are so many problems, like killings in Zamfara, Southern Kaduna, cult clashes in Edo, Rivers and Imo majorly, buildings collapsing, Tanker accidents, among others.

We may not have recorded issues of cyclone, earthquake, severe drought, flood or hurricane, but there are also growing environmental issues and 'natural disasters' we need to intervene in!

What can we do? What can you do?

We can create more awareness, donate to aid research, donate to assist displaced persons, donate to rebuild damaged places, make up policies that would aid safer practises to achieve a sustainable environment for ourselves, those before us still alive and those after us, now here and those yet unborn, AND PRAY.

For now TLF has received a plea from Elizabeth, VSO Volunteer.
We are not the ones collecting donations but we are asking we all can reach out through the contacts above and see how we can donate directly to them via VSO. Thanks and may God raise help for a time like this.

Our prayers are with Mozambique and the other countries affected by the cyclone, well as with Nigeria in her own issues of need, in need of intercession, amen.

Story Time

Lisungu Chieza from Zimbabwe was 26 when she was told in 1996 that she was HIV+. "This started my long journey of coping with being HIV+. My husband died in my arms at home eight months later." Not only did Lisungu have to cope with her own illness and losing her husband, but her husband's family also wrongly blamed her for his death. They came to her house, took away his things, and said, "If those children of yours get sick, don't even call us. We won't have anything to do with them or you." They would not even let her go to her husband's burial. "I gave up a college course I had planned to do. All I thought about was death. I neglected my children and myself." But her mother supported her. Lisungu began to find hope again and joined an HIV support group. Then she started to help others who were also HIV+, and took a college course about HIV-AIDS. She spoke at HIV meetings with the young people in her church. She believes that it is ver...

Today is the second part of our D Day for the month of August!

Today is the second part of our D Day for the month of August! Although this celebration is marked in the month of May, we have harmonised all relevant sub-themes dealing with family and youth under this month of August.  15th of May is International Day of Families.  We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form of activity or the other to promote wholesome family life and the true meaning of family.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember - Matthew 12:49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers! Psalm 113:Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! You are invited to attend our viewing of - "Loneliness is literally killing us" by Will Wright at TEDxBirmingham . We commend the speaker and give kudos to the organisers. You too can organise such a wonderful event. In TLF we inspire...
