From the hour of 1am
We shall focus on
Family

Prayer
Abba Father You have made us members of Your larger family. Now, therefore, we are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of Your household. We pray You bless our families and all families who are built on the solid Rock, in Jesus name, amen.

Praise
Though we are many
We are 1 body
We are one body in Christ (repeat)
One faith in the Lord Jesus Christ
Binding us together in one cause
One hope in the one God
One Father over all

Ponder
Is the institution of family eroding away with the prevalence of absentee fathers, single mothers, divorce and domestic violence? And He will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, Who then are our family members? And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, "Here are My mother and My brothers!

The Day I Couldn’t Pray by Randy Kilgore of Our Daily Bread The Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26 In November 2015, I learned I needed open-heart surgery. Surprised and a little shaken, I was naturally drawn to think about the possibility of death. Were there relationships I needed to mend? Were there financial matters I needed to attend to for my family? Was there work that could be done ahead of time? And what about work that couldn’t wait; who should I hand that off to? It was a time to both act and pray. Except I couldn’t do either. My body was so weary and my mind so fatigued that even the simplest of tasks seemed beyond my strength. Perhaps most surprising, when I tried to pray, my thoughts would drift to the discomfort, or the shallow breathing caused by the damaged heart made me fall asleep. It was frustrating. I couldn’t work and I couldn’t even ask God to let me live so I could spend more time with my family! The inability to pray troubled me most. But as with all other human needs, the Creator knew this was happening to me. I would eventually recall He made two preparations for such occurrences: the prayer of the Spirit for us when we can’t pray (Rom. 8:26), and the prayer of others on our behalf (James 5:16; Gal. 6:2). What a comfort it was to know that the Holy Spirit was even then raising my concerns before the Father. What a gift also to hear from friends and family as they prayed for me. Then came another surprise: As my friends and family asked me what to pray for, it became clear that my answers to them were also being heard by God as prayers. What a gift it is in a time of uncertainty to be reminded God hears our heart even when we think we can’t call out to Him. God never leaves the voices of His children unheard.

Prayer-point
LORD bless everyone who fears You and Who walks in Your ways. Let us pray for men seeking for wives for life partners and women waiting on the Lord for their appointed husbands as life partners. Let us pray for couples believing God for children. Let us pray that fathers will provide from the labour of their hands, and be happy, and it shall be well with them. Let us pray that mothers shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of the house. Let us pray that children will be like olive plants all around their parent’s table. Behold, thus shall the family be blessed who fears the LORD.

Charge
Unless the LORD builds the house, they labour in vain who build it. Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.

Story Time

Lisungu Chieza from Zimbabwe was 26 when she was told in 1996 that she was HIV+. "This started my long journey of coping with being HIV+. My husband died in my arms at home eight months later." Not only did Lisungu have to cope with her own illness and losing her husband, but her husband's family also wrongly blamed her for his death. They came to her house, took away his things, and said, "If those children of yours get sick, don't even call us. We won't have anything to do with them or you." They would not even let her go to her husband's burial. "I gave up a college course I had planned to do. All I thought about was death. I neglected my children and myself." But her mother supported her. Lisungu began to find hope again and joined an HIV support group. Then she started to help others who were also HIV+, and took a college course about HIV-AIDS. She spoke at HIV meetings with the young people in her church. She believes that it is ver...
