Month Review

This month we looked at sub-issues under the theme Solidarity! We in TLF believe in Solidarity which ensures love. Solidarity entails acknowledging everything in another’s life while extending love in living according to God’s Word. We need to love our neighbours as ourselves and if we do not take others the way we meet them, we may find ourselves displaying superiority complex.   As a charity and social development organisation, TLF strives to ensure that all concerned- trustees, members, volunteers, beneficiaries, benefactors and all are living in the peace of God. Everyone may not have the position in life and living but we are one in Christ Jesus.  Unity is free, so also is our being children of God. Although the Bible talks a lot about love, God tells us we should not be unequally yoked with unbelievers as two cannot walk together unless they agree. So what should be our stance? Solidarity is first among we the members of the Body of Christ, by that we can fully func...

TLF in 2024, Orphanage Visit, and more...

About yesterday! We knocked and the children gathered around the gate to welcome TLF. We got in and met the staff and children. A good number of the children had gone for an outing organised by a Fellowship. We donated the money, fruits, books and other things we brought. Then we got down to the business of drawing. The children were given boxes to design and customize. Then another group came in and we all just mixed. We prayed, interacted and one from that group prophesied that maybe art would be a talent that could bring one or all of them out. Mine was to let them draw and design in the way they could. Among them is Blessing, Destiny, Winner, Junior, and others. So I said amen so truly they can use art as we've done over the years. The group left and we too wrapped up. I filled the visitor's book and we bade the children happy New Year and stay blessed. While they said, "please come back again!" I said we will try, and I pray we would, God keeping u...

TLF at 20!

Katharine Hepburn, in her own words: "Once, when I was a teenager, my father and I were standing in line to buy tickets for the circus. Finally, there was only one family between us and the ticket counter. That family made a lasting impression on me. There were eight children, all under the age of 12. From the way they were dressed, you could tell they didn’t have much money, but their clothes were clean, very clean. The children were well-behaved, standing in pairs behind their parents, holding hands. They were so excited about the clowns, the animals, and all the acts they would see that night. From their excitement, you could tell they had never been to a circus before. It was going to be a highlight of their lives. The father and mother stood proudly at the front of their little group. The mother was holding her husband’s hand, looking at him as if to say, 'You’re my knight in shining armor.' He was smiling, enjoying seeing his family happy. The ticket lady asked how m...

What is Christmas to you?

I heard the bells on Christmas day Their old familiar carols play And mild and sweet their songs repeat Of peace on Earth, good will to men And the bells are ringing (peace on Earth) Like a choir they're singing (peace on Earth) In my heart I hear them (peace on Earth) Peace on Earth, good will to men And in despair I bowed my head "There is no peace on Earth, " I said For hate is strong and mocks the song Of peace on Earth, good will to men But the bells are ringing (peace on Earth) Like a choir singing (peace on Earth) Does anybody hear them? (Peace on Earth) Peace on Earth, good will to men Then rang the bells more loud and deep God is not dead, nor doth He sleep (Peace on Earth) (Peace on Earth) The wrong shall fail, the right prevail With peace on Earth, good will to men Then ringing, singing on its way The world revolved from night to day A voice, a chime, a chant sublime Of peace on Earth, good will to men And the bells, they're ringing (peace on Earth) Like a...

21st of May is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

21st of May is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.  Why should we mark this day? International days like this are occasions to educate the public on issues of concern, to mobilise political will and resources to address global problems, and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity.  The existence of international days predates the establishment of the United Nations, but the UN has embraced them as a powerful advocacy tool. There are also days not designated by U.N. which we in TLF commemorate all the same. In our theme of #Solidarity highlighting issues of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is key. Just as we are discussing the issue of the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we must also seek ways we can use our cultural diversity for development, this we can do by continuous dialogue and yes, action. I personally represent 4 distinct tribes in Nigeria and I am always open to dialogue about cultural diversity among my rela...

21st of March yearly is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

Have you ever experienced racial discrimination? If no what do you think about stories you've heard of others, if yes, share your experiences on our X, LinkedIn and Facebook or you cn send us an email. We stand with you. 21st of March yearly is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. On this day we are to stand in solidarity against racism and work assiduously to eliminate it totally. By extension, we have to stand in solidarity against tribalism, and work for it's total elimination. Come March 21st the world would mark this event, but for us in TLF we have added it to our theme for December which is #Solidarity. What are you standing against? How can we collectively work to eliminate racism and tribalism? #Solidarity  TLF💚

Gracias!

We sincerely thank all those who wake us up with donations of cash and kind and today was not an exception. Please join us to pray for our donors. We have received cash donations and a number of others have asked that we meet them for their own donations especially towards the visitations. We also have our 3rd Term General Meeting coming up on the 29th of December and that would also be our end of year celebration. We can't thank enough those who pray for us and who are silent givers. We thank all those who have donated also. Remember you can share your 2024 testimonies on our TLF Testimonies page on Facebook. TLF💚

International Human Solidarity Day is our Da day

For the United Nations, International Human Solidarity Day is a day to celebrate our unity in diversity;  a day to remind governments to respect their commitments to international agreements;  a day to raise public awareness of the importance of solidarity; a day to encourage debate on the ways to promote solidarity for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals including poverty eradication; a day of action to encourage new initiatives for poverty eradication. It is in the spirit of solidarity that the Organization relies on “cooperation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character” as well. The General Assembly, on 22 December 2005, by resolution 60/209 identified solidarity as one of the fundamental and universal values that should underlie relations between peoples in the twenty-first century, and in that regard decided to proclaim 20 December of each year International Human Solidarity Day.  By resolution 57/2...

What TLF Is Up To This Period

What is TLF doing this Christmas and New Year Season? By God's grace - 1. We are gathering foodstuffs, clothes and other items in our pool for onward distribution. 2. We are visiting Oko Correctional Centre and we'd patronize things made by the inmates to encourage them.  3. We are visiting Ajebor Orphanage home and we'd distribute items and teach them creative art. Note: in TLF we do not emphasise pictures and videos. Majority of the places we visit do not even allow such. We receive items and donations in trust. Anyone who wants to give directly is welcome to. Anyone who is willing to give to us in trust is also welcome to do so. Anyone willing to accompany us is welcome to.

3rd Term Meeting

We have our 3rd Term General Meeting in this month of December tentatively on Sunday 29th between the hours of 3pm - 5.30pm, in our temporary Centre.  We must note that our General Meetings are only thrice a year - April, August and December.  Thank you and God loves you and I. TLF💚

Be ready in season and out of season.  2 Timothy 4:2  "Knowing what season you're in." We live our lives in seasons, and seasons have beginnings and endings. So, diversity is the key to longevity. If you don't understand that you can lose your sense of purpose, because when one season is over you've nothing left to carry with you into the next. That's why successful farmers keep rotating their crops. They plant corn in one field, then when it goes out of season they plow that field and let it rest. At the same time they're busy elsewhere harvesting alfalfa to make hay, after which that field goes through the same process. In spring they change the order of things so the field where corn once grew now produces alfalfa, and so forth. When Paul told Timothy, "Be ready in season and out of season," he was encouraging him to broaden his spiritual horizons. In Timothy's case he needed to understand there's a time to correct people, and a time...
May this encourage you always.   Don't spend major time with minor people for your sanity's sake. If there are people in your life that continually disappoint you,  break promises, stomp on your dreams, too judgmental, have different values and don't have your back during difficult times... that is not a friend. To have a friend, be a friend. Sometimes in life as you grow, your  friends will either grow or go. Surround yourself with people who  reflect values, goals interests and lifestyle. When I think of any of my successes, I am thankful to GOD from whom all blessings flow, and to my family and friends that enrich my life. Over the years my phone book has changed because I changed   for the better. At first you think you're going to be alone, but after a while new people show up in your life that make your life so much sweeter and easier to endure. Remember what your elders used to say, "Birds of a feather flock  together. If you're an e...
16 May yearly is International Day of Living Together in Peace.  ARE YOU A REASON, A SEASON, OR A LIFETIME?  Pay attention to what you read. After you read this, you will know the reason it was sent to you! People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you figure out which one it is, you will know what to do for each person.  When someone is in your life for a REASON. . . It is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally, or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend, and they are! They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part, or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been ...

The Caller

Isn't it amazing how God works in our lives! On a Saturday  night several weeks ago, this pastor was working late, and decided to call  his wife before he left for home. It was about 10:00 PM, but his wife didn't  answer the phone. The pastor let the phone ring many times. He thought it  was odd that she didn't answer, but decided to wrap up a few things and try  again in a few minutes. When he tried again she answered right  away.  He asked her why she hadn't answered before, and she said that it  hadn't rung at their house. They brushed it off as a fluke and went on their merry ways. The following Monday, the pastor received a call at the  church office, which was the phone that he'd used that Saturday night. The man that he spoke with wanted to know why he'd called on Saturday  night. The pastor couldn't figure out what the man was talking about.  Then the man said, "It rang and rang, but I didn't answer."  The pastor...
Depression is like a deflated ball. It flattens the spirit. Why slide into depression when you can live your life sober and true. Sobriety is not despair or depression. I live a sober life.  Do you? Jesus says we should watch and pray, but did you also know that His Word tells us children of God to be sober. Being sober is being alert, aware and conscious of your decisions,  Knowing that actions have reactions and consequences.  But being "high" the opposite of being sober, Is the gyration people push for. High-life: drink and be drunk and wild, play metallic rock, dance hall, high life music and blues and become uncontrollable that even your mood can swing, take codeine and sleep long and deep, do hard drugs and be inspired to write songs, movie scripts, draw or be creative (creativity, artworks and music that has no connection with God's glory), the same drug effect has made some commit crime, rob, kill, assassinate and even rape. How can we avoid the effects of ...

12 November is International Day of Bible

Malcolm Cloutt was named a 2021 Maundy Money honouree by Queen Elizabeth II, an annual service award given to British men and women. Cloutt, who was 100 years old at the time of the recognition, was honoured for having given out 1000 Bibles during his lifetime. Cloutt has kept a record of everyone who's received a Bible and has prayed for them regularly. - Lisa M. These Bibles have reached school students, prison inmates, correctional centres, juvenile homes, hospitals, hotels, and many other places. I myself I have received about 3 copies - when I entered UDSS in 1995, when I entered University of Benin in 2002 and when I was in University of Ibadan 2011.   “The Professor’s Confession” By Philip Yancey This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.  Ephesians 3:6 “Community” is the place where the person you least want to live with always lives, says Henri Nouwen. Often we surround ourselves with the people we most want to live with, which forms a club or a clique, not a community. Anyone can form a club; it takes grace, shared vision, and hard work to form a community. The Christian church was the first institution in history to bring together on equal footing Jews and Gentiles, men and women, slaves and free. The apostle Paul waxed eloquent on this “mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God.” By forming a community out of diverse members, Paul said, we have the opportunity to capture the attention of the world and even the supernatural world beyond (Eph. 3:9–10). In some ways the church has sadly ...

One has to overcome two things to live above suicide tendency 1). Low self esteem 2). Rejection by societal standard People who commit suicide what exactly do they always think before taking their lives?  --------- When people commit suicide because of failed relationships, don’t they say they are many fishes in the river? That one way doesn’t work doesn’t mean another won’t. Dying for the wrong reasons, is so bad. Heart break shouldn’t make anyone commit suicide. It could be that it’s a blessing in disguise and a way of missing out on the calamities that partner had in stock for you. --------- The thing about life is that only God can fill the void. Only an inventor knows the purpose of his invention and how it works. Some people born to poor parents would have heard about the wealth another's father left him or her and wished it had been their own father. And then the person commits suicide and you wonder. In all your doings, know God and live a life of service t...

Suicide is Real

Steve Bing Commits Suicide By Jumping From 27th Floor. Steve Bing, an American producer, philanthropist, and writer died by suicide at the age of 55 on Monday June 22nd after jumping from the 27th floor of a luxury apartment building in L.A.'s Century City neighborhood. He had been suffering from depression due to lack of human contact during quarantine of Covid19 in 2020. Bing founded Shangri-La Entertainment and inherited a fortune of some $600 million from his grandfather, L.A. real estate developer Leo S. Bing. After dropping out of University, Bing pursued a career in Hollywood and became the executive producer of the Sylvester Stallone film, "Get Carter," in 2000. In 2003, he co-wrote the action-comedy “Kangaroo Jack,” and he also contributed to “Missing in Action” and wrote an episode of “Married With Children.”  The philanthropist later invested some $80 million in “The Polar Express,” the Tom Hanks-voiced 2004 film directed by Robert Zemeckis. Suicide Awareness

A media personality revealed that he attempted taking his own life twice. He made this known speaking on a task titled “Mental health.” He blamed parents for not being serious about their children’s mental health. Suicide is NEVER an option. Always make people around you happy because the Nigeria of today is enough to make many people feel depressed. We have a lot of psychopaths and narcissists walking about, not excluding folks with PTSD, chronic depression, personality disorders, etc. The worst part is that these individuals are unaware of their nature, making it even harder to seek help. You hear stories of gruesome murder, and wonder how someone could get the nerve to take a life. Are these murderers actually normal people? Alas, they are always diagnosed with one mental illness or the other. If they had been confined earlier in one mental facility upon diagnose, that would have saved the society from many mayhems such people have caused and sadly, are still causing. Life is ...

How To Avoid Becoming A Victim Of Suicide (Don't Fall Out With God) by Nifemi

How To Avoid Becoming A Victim Of Suicide (Don't Fall Out With God)  I am certain that if those who committed suicide in the past one year were asked a few years ago whether they could ever commit suicide, their answers would be "Never!" Pathetically, they carried out the act. This was because in the course of their living, they were caught in life’s storms such as illness, persecution, unfulfilled dreams or desires, failures, rape, damaged reputations, bankruptcy, loneliness, debt, hardship, misfortune, bullying, lack, death of a loved one, injustice, false accusation, pressure from loved ones and peers, losses amongst others that overwhelmed them and made them give up on life. What a pity! Life’s storms and challenges are real. However, there is nothing anyone can do concerning because they are a part and parcel of life and we must come across them. Nonetheless, there are things individuals could do to stay strong, safe and victorious in the times of storm.  In the next...

Happiness

As we think of happiness let us remember those who are struggling with depression and whose lives' struggles seem to overwhelm them. Know that 10th September annually is World Suicide Prevention Day. It is a day set aside by WHO. Many people with seemingly balanced lives with schedules for work, family time and myriad of friends still end up as victims of suicide. We as humans do not have all the answers but God does. #November

Suicide Awareness

There was a story that a mother of one who committed suicide after she cried for help on Facebook and got no help. People blamed her that she killed herself to escape hard times but left her son behind to suffer.  Who cares? no empathy! no love! No one to share your problem with. No one to help you. People don't really care what you are going through. I pray we overcome every challenges we're facing. so that we won't ask people that will mock us for help. Suicide is never an option.... Why do people take God for granted like this? Sadly, people can cross the ocean just to attend a funeral but can't cross a street to help. Also unfortunately are those professional beggars and scammers making it difficult to help those genuinely in need. These criminals must realise that they would never be better in life if they continue on this path. But we should not ignore people asking/begging us for assistance even on social media because we may not know what the pers...

Story Time

Air Commodore Vishal was a Jet Pilot. In a combat mission his fighter plane was destroyed by a missile. He however ejected himself and parachuted safely. He won acclaims and appreciations from many. After five years one day he was sitting with his wife in a restaurant. A man from another table came to him and said "You're Captain Vishal! You flew jet fighters. You were shot down!" "How in the world did you know that?" asked Vishal. "I packed your parachute," the man smiled and replied. Vishal gasped in surprise and gratitude and thought if parachute hadn't worked, I wouldn’t be here today. Vishal couldn't sleep that night, thinking about that man. He wondered how many times I might have seen him and not even said 'Good morning, how are you?' or anything because, he was a fighter pilot and that person was just a safety worker." So friends, who is packing your parachute? Everyone has someone who provides what they need to make it t...
