Suicide Awareness

 A media personality revealed that he attempted taking his own life twice. He made this known speaking on a task titled “Mental health.” He blamed parents for not being serious about their children’s mental health.

Suicide is NEVER an option. Always make people around you happy because the Nigeria of today is enough to make many people feel depressed.

We have a lot of psychopaths and narcissists walking about, not excluding folks with PTSD, chronic depression, personality disorders, etc. The worst part is that these individuals are unaware of their nature, making it even harder to seek help.

You hear stories of gruesome murder, and wonder how someone could get the nerve to take a life. Are these murderers actually normal people? Alas, they are always diagnosed with one mental illness or the other. If they had been confined earlier in one mental facility upon diagnose, that would have saved the society from many mayhems such people have caused and sadly, are still causing.

Life is worthwhile when there are good memories to cling on to. Make these moments count and make others happy too.

We need to encourage balance in our lives. Remember that a sane mind is a peaceful mind. Extra curricular activities help to keep people from suicide.

Story Time

  Lisungu Chieza from Zimbabwe was 26 when she was told in 1996 that she was HIV+. "This started my long journey of coping with being HIV+. My husband died in my arms at home eight months later." Not only did Lisungu have to cope with her own illness and losing her husband, but her husband's family also wrongly blamed her for his death. They came to her house, took away his things, and said, "If those children of yours get sick, don't even call us. We won't have anything to do with them or you."
