BAKHITA

BAKHITA Around 2006 I received a pendant of St Bakhita from my nephew Oduwa’s teacher at Sacred Heart’s Nursery and Primary School, Iguosa. Prior to that day id never heard of her. Receiving that gift intrigued me to find out more about this lady whose pendant I now wore from time to time. This was what I found out - Saint Bakhita was born in 1869 in Dafur region of Western Sudan in the Rift Valley of Olgossa close to a Mount, Gebel Agilere. She had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Seeing the sun, moon & stars, she asked herself, 'Who is the Master of these beautiful things?' When she was 8years old she went for a walk with her 14 year old friend when two strangers came and kidnapped only her. With fear, she could not speak so they named her Bakhita, that is, lucky one. In the captor's house, she met another young girl slightly older than her and they became friends.  While on trade, they escaped but landed in another captor's hand, who sold them to a chief, to be maids to...

UN Days for TLF

UN Days 7th April is International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda  9th December is International Anti-Corruption Day  15th September is International Day of Democracy 20th February is World Day of Social Justice  Why are these days important to us even in February? This is because these days play a role in adding to the sum total of our Aim and Objectives in TLF.  But note that 20th February is World Day of Social Justice so is the "D" day, we are going to focus on issues of the theme.  In the course of the year, join us in carrying out the various activities lined up in accordance with our themes.  #SocialJustice #February TLF 💚

UN Days for February

UN Days for the Month of February The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organization. Usually, it is one or more Member States that propose these observances and the General Assembly establishes them with a resolution. On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialized agencies of the United Nations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be later adopted by the General Assembly. 4 February World Cancer Day 6 February International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation   13 February World Radio Day  20 February World Day of Social Justice    21 February International Mother Day  Stella For: Friends of TLF💚 #February

February Theme

Our thematic issue for this month is #SocialJustice  We urge us all to get involved in one form of social justice or the other to avoid social injustice. Whether we believe in the systems put in place to check injustice or not, we must not give up. Year after year for a long time in TLF, we have dedicated the month of February to focus on issues of social justice, in fulfilment of the vision and mission of TLF. Let's participate in TLF’s theme or on our own, in our own ways to curb injustices all around us, and may God bless our cause in Jesus name, amen. Know that 20th February is World Day of Social Justice and TLF’s activities will as usual centre on acts of charity and social development. God be thanked. Happy month of social justice to us! Thanks  God loves us all. Tina  For: TLF💚 #February

Let it go for this year!

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you, loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk. Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The Bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us. For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us [1 John 2:19].  People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay. Let them go, and it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over, and you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead. You've got to know when it's dea...

January Theme

Our thematic issue for this month is #New Beginning  We urge us in love to begin this year on a fresh and clean slate. Whether we believe in New Year resolutions or not, matters for discussion and action plans in fulfilment of the vision and mission of TLF must have a new and fresh approach. Let's start the year on a powerful note and have a new beginning to pilot us to greater years ahead in Jesus name, amen. Know that on this beautiful day January 1st 2005 TLF started for acts of charity and social development. God be praised. Happy anniversary to us! Thanks  God loves us all. Tina  For: TLF💚 #January
