UN Days for the Month of March

The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organisation. Usually, it is one or more Member States that propose these observances and the General Assembly establishes them with a resolution. On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialised agencies of the United Nations, such as WHO, UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be later adopted by the General Assembly.  Kindly take note of these days in this month whether or not they fall within our theme for the month. 2 March World Autism Awareness Day  6 March International Day of Sport for Development and Peace   7 March International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda  7 March World Health Day   21 March World Creativity and Innovation Day  23 March W...

TLF Theme UN Days

UN Days 3 March is World Wildlife Day  5 June is World Environment Day  5 June is International Day for the Fight against Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing  8 June is World Oceans Day  11 December is International Mountain Day  17 June is World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought  21 March is International Day of Forests  22 March is World Water Day  23 March is World Meteorological Day [WMO]  29 August is International Day against Nuclear Tests  Why are these days important to us even in March? This is because these days play a role in adding to the sum total of our Aim and Objectives in TLF.  But note that 5th of June is World Environment Day the "D" day, we are going to focus on issues of the environment and nature even in this month!  In the course of the year, join us in carrying out the various activities lined up in accordance with our themes. Remember that our cardinal projects are to distribute freely -...

March Theme

Our thematic issue for this month is #Environment aka #Nature Over the years you may wonder why issues of climate, environment,  sanitation, flora, fauna and nature have been politicised, criticised and under emphasised?  We urge us all to get involved in one form of environmental issue or the other to avoid implosions, pollutions and degradation. Whether we believe in the systems put in place to safeguard the environment or not, we must not give up. Year after year for a long time in TLF, we have dedicated the month of March to focus on issues of the environment, in fulfilment of the vision and mission of TLF. We can participate in this month’s TLF’s theme or on our own, in our own ways to advocate and work for a better attitude towards issues of environment and nature as a whole. I mean we live on earth! We need the earth to function well for us to inhabit it. Instead of thinking of Mars to Pluto why don’t we make good God’s own green earth? Know that 5th of June is World ...

Let us stand up for Social Justice

See how children in a class are separated by seats even years after the end of segregation. The sad thing about this article is that the essence of it is true. The truth hurts. I just hope this sets more Black people in motion towards making real progress. Chris Rock, a Black comedian, even joked that Blacks don't read. This is a heavy piece and a Caucasian wrote it. Dee Lee, CFP Harvard Financial Educators THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES  We can continue to reap profits from the Blacks without the effort of physical slavery Look at the current methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED, and SELFISHNESS. Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment. A great man once said, "The best way to hide something from Black people is to put it in a book." We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of their fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read. There are numerous books rea...

As a prelude to our D day

As a prelude to our D day tomorrow God keeping us, we joined the team of Rev. Popoola Correctional Initiative to pay a courtesy visit to the Zonal Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God. It was an amazing visit and time well spent. We were warmly received and even given packs. We took pictures and we heard the wonderful testimonies of former inmates who received outright pardon from past governors and reintegrated into the society properly with the guidance, mentorship and pastorship of Rev. Popoola. These men who spent over 15 years at various Prisons are now working class, family men doing the "Lord's Work's" in His vineyard. You too can be a part of this! You and I don't have to ever be convicted or awaiting trial detainees before we reach out to the Prisons and ex-convicts seeking a better life. We urge you to support Rev. Popoola.  We shared his Bank details earlier this year and we are happy to share it again for your financial support please -...

S. S. L.

What hope do we have in a degrading society, Where the rich get richer, the poor poorer. A society where the leaders have nothing to offer, Except lies ,deceit and embezzlement. A society where leaders are self-elected, and  Not people elected. A society, where the leaders commit crime And go unpunished. A society where the average feeding ratio of Its citizen is zero to one, while the selected few Enjoys the wealth of the people. A society, where education has been reduced to Nothing but a mere piece of paper. A society where truth is left untold for fear Of being silenced. A society where graduates are unemployed And are left to walk the streets. A society where what you will become Depend, on whom you know. A society where the youths have lost their Sense of morality, teenage girls have gone Into prostitution, the boys carry arms. A society where you work and your salary is withheld. A society griped with bribery and corruption. A society, where all hope seem hopeless. But there...

Did You Know?

In TLF we are big on arts, crafts and creativity. We celebrate creativity. Many people have been able to support charitable causes from creative art exhibitions and sales. Many others have also used their creative works to raise awareness on various laudable causes for social development. Take for instance in our theme for this month, we have selected some creative art works that will help pass our message to us in an artistic way. Also in our Centre, we host children who often come just to draw and make things from recycled materials. We strongly invite you to like our facebook page - TLF Creativity. We also share and retweet such creativity on our X handle that we also invite you to like and share. Our various artworks in TLF add to the posters we paste around and the comics we also produce and share out. Thank you. Facebook.com/TLF Creativity #February

Be reminded of our Theme for this month

Our Correctional Centre Visit

We thank God we had the opportunity to visit the Oko Correctional Centre today. The staff were wonderful and warm and the inmates were just wonderful. May God grant freedom to those He has marked with His seal. We need to do more for the Correctional Centres, the staff and inmates, as TLF, as individuals, as friends and as volunteers. We trust God to bless us and those who make our visitations possible. We go bearing gifts and monetary support. Kindly donate and be a part of the humongous blessings from God, amen. #SocialJustice #February TLF 💚

Did You Know?

In TLF we are grateful people. We celebrate God's goodness and mercies. Many people have been able to rekindle hope and encourage others in faith from their wonderful testimonies of how they have received miracles from God Almighty. Many others have also used their testimonies to raise awareness on God's involvement in our daily living and activities. Take for instance in TLF, our continuous existence since 1996 and the activities of our Centre, among others showcase our verse which we have used since 2005, Psalms 118:8. We strongly invite you to like our facebook page - TLF Testimonies. We also share and retweet testimonies on our X handle that we also invite you to share your testimonies, like and share. Our various testimonies in TLF add to our resolve to continue in our mission and vision to God's glory. Thank you. Facebook.com/TLF Testimonies #February  TLF 💚

15th September is International Day of Democracy.

We commend all those political parties, political groups, civil societies, school unions, pressure groups, individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in the promotion of the democratic way of governance. God bless their labour and work of love. We commend those who have peaceful transited governments in democratic rule and condemn those who have held on to power limitlessly. We encourage those who speak out and such citizens who help to create such awareness for the rest of the world to know and abhor. May we not do anything in vain. Remember James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. James 2:12 So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. Remember the ultimate law is love. God is love. There is no love outside of God. Your life in God is most important. Even though it is sad that Africa has one of th...

Our Bibles Are Here

God has done it for us! We thank God always. Since January 1st 2005! We have been giving out Complete Bibles, having been inspired by Gideon International. Today we made this purchase according to our finances. By God's grace, every one, library, prison, hotel room or organisation we give a copy to would receive the greatest source of wisdom, knowledge and guidance of God's Word in their lives and bodies, in Jesus name, amen. We thank God for blessing -  Mr. Cyril Clark (B.M.) Benson Idehen (B.M.) Awele Ikem Gideon International  Fr. ODB Message

“Being Human Beings” By Elisa Morgan All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. 1 Peter 3:8 When asked to define his role in a community that was sometimes uncooperative with law enforcement, a sheriff didn’t flash his badge or respond with the rank of his office. Rather he offered, “We are human beings who work with human beings in crisis.” His humility—his stated equality with his fellow human beings—reminds me of Peter’s words when writing to first-century Christians suffering under Roman persecution. Peter directs: “All of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble” (1 Peter 3:8). Perhaps Peter was saying that the best response to humans in crisis is to be human, to be aware that we are all the same. After all, isn’t that what God Himself did when He sent His Son—became human in order to help us? (Phil. 2:7). Gazing only at the core of our fallen hearts, it’s tempting to disdain our human status...
