The Lawyer/Attorney

After living what I felt was a "decent" life, my time on earth came to the end. The first thing I remember is sitting on a bench in the waiting room of what I thought to be a court house. The doors opened and I was instructed to come in and have a seat by the defence table. As I looked around I saw the "prosecutor." He was a villainous looking gent who snarled as he stared at me. He definitely was the most evil person I have ever seen. I sat down and looked to my left and there sat  My Attorney, a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed so familiar to me, I felt I knew Him. The corner door flew open and there appeared the Judge in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as He moved across the room. I couldn't take my eyes off of Him. As He took His seat behind the bench, He said, "Let us begin."  The prosecutor rose and said, "My name is Satan and I am here to show you why this man belongs in hell." He proceeded to te...

Jesus Loves You

"Jesus Loves You and I" By Tina Tobo ... the ultimate law is love. Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, "One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me." Do you think following Jesus Christ would make you a liability or poor? Well I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. Why? because God sends us, His multitude of those who believe, who are of one heart and one soul, to anyone among us who lacks.  As the Body of Christ no one has any of the things he or she possessed was his or her own, but all things are held in common. Possessors of lands or houses could sell them, and bring the proceeds of the things that were sold for distribution to each as anyone has need. Those who possess valuables can sell such and give alms.  This form of Christianity glorifies God. This form o...

Read and Learn

A pretty woman was serving a life sentence in prison. Angry and resentful about her situation, she had decided that she would rather die than to live another year in prison. Over the years she had become good friends with one of the prison caretakers. His job, among others, was to bury those prisoners who died in a graveyard just outside the prison walls. When a prisoner died, the caretaker rang a bell, which was heard by everyone. The caretaker then got the body and put it in a casket. Next, he entered his office to fill out the death certificate before returning to the casket to nail the lid shut. Finally, he put the casket on a wagon to take it to the graveyard and bury it. Knowing this routine, the woman devised an escape plan and shared it with the caretaker. The next time the bell rang; the woman would leave her cell and sneak into the dark room where the coffins were kept. She would slip into the coffin with the dead body while the caretaker was filling out the death certificate...

From Our Folder Stories

9th of December is International Anti-Corruption Day. This may be funny, but there is need to think about it and evaluate ourselves..... Corruption self examination! - If you usually put more sugar in your tea when in a hotel than you do at home, You're likely to be corrupt? - If you use more tissue in a public washroom than you do at home, you are a potential thief if given opportunity. - If you serve yourself more food that you can finish just because someone else is footing the bill, you're greedy. - If you usually jump queues, you have potential for abusing office if given a powerful position. - If you are more concerned about knowing someone's surname rather than first name, you're likely to be a tribal bigot. Its even worse when someone tells you their name & then you ask, "which tribe is that?" - If you usually overlap while in traffic jam or have no regard for traffic lights, then you would easily embezzle public funds if you're given a positi...

BAKHITA

BAKHITA Around 2006 I received a pendant of St Bakhita from my nephew Oduwa’s teacher at Sacred Heart’s Nursery and Primary School, Iguosa. Prior to that day id never heard of her. Receiving that gift intrigued me to find out more about this lady whose pendant I now wore from time to time. This was what I found out - Saint Bakhita was born in 1869 in Dafur region of Western Sudan in the Rift Valley of Olgossa close to a Mount, Gebel Agilere. She had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Seeing the sun, moon & stars, she asked herself, 'Who is the Master of these beautiful things?' When she was 8years old she went for a walk with her 14 year old friend when two strangers came and kidnapped only her. With fear, she could not speak so they named her Bakhita, that is, lucky one. In the captor's house, she met another young girl slightly older than her and they became friends.  While on trade, they escaped but landed in another captor's hand, who sold them to a chief, to be maids to...

He walked with Me in peace and equity, And turned many away from iniquity. Remember the ultimate law is love. God is love. There is no justice outside of God. Your life in God is most important. In all your pursuit of social justice, pursue a life in Jesus Christ and be fervent. Tina Tobo .. the ultimate law is love. #SocialJustice #February

Academic Lectures

I got a call from my former teacher yesterday and it was a pleasant surprise. I thought he needed something but he said no, that what he wanted was for me to attend and pray along with him as he delivers his Inaugural lecture on Thursday the 12th. I often attend such academic lectures wherever ordinarily! Our prayer in TLF however is that our numerous lectures, projects, theses and researches leave the shelves and archives and go to town! No matter your situation, even those in prisons, you can avail yourselves to more learning. The ultimate law is love, so says the Bible and we align with it in TLF. All our education and research should be for the good of the society and for social development. The satisfaction that all God has endowed on us and our knowledge has gotten, must necessitate that we take our "gowns" to "town." Let us impact where God has sent us to. How can our society develop if we do not apply even our academic knowledge and professional skills? #Soc...

UN Days for February

UN Days for the Month of February The United Nations designates specific days, weeks, years and decades as occasions to mark particular events or topics in order to promote, through awareness and action, the objectives of the Organization. Usually, it is one or more Member States that propose these observances and the General Assembly establishes them with a resolution. On occasion, these celebrations are declared by the specialized agencies of the United Nations, such as UNESCO, UNICEF, FAO, etc., when they concern issues that fall within the scope of their competencies. Some of them may be later adopted by the General Assembly. 4 February World Cancer Day 6 February International Day of Zero Tolerance to Female Genital Mutilation   13 February World Radio Day  20 February World Day of Social Justice    21 February International Mother Day  Stella For: Friends of TLF💚 #February

February Theme

Our thematic issue for this month is #SocialJustice  We urge us all to get involved in one form of social justice or the other to avoid social injustice. Whether we believe in the systems put in place to check injustice or not, we must not give up. Year after year for a long time in TLF, we have dedicated the month of February to focus on issues of social justice, in fulfilment of the vision and mission of TLF. Let's participate in TLF’s theme or on our own, in our own ways to curb injustices all around us, and may God bless our cause in Jesus name, amen. Know that 20th February is World Day of Social Justice and TLF’s activities will as usual centre on acts of charity and social development. God be thanked. Happy month of social justice to us! Thanks  God loves us all. Tina  For: TLF💚 #February
