Month Review

This month we looked at sub-issues under the theme Family! Family entails the father, mother, child who becomes a youth, then an adult and then a father or mother. The United Nations enjoins nations to take seriously the issue of Family and Youth as it declared 15th May as International Day of Families and  12th August as International Youth Day every year to sensitise the public on the issue. Remember in July we dealt with the theme of Trafficking. But our families ought to provide the bedrock that provides support, encouragement, love and the fortitude to resist lures or reasons into slavery, bondage and trafficking. While we are to obey our parents, we are not expected to allow them or siblings send us away into slavery, bondage and to be trafficked. When Jesus is in the family it is a happy home and it glorifies God but upholds the sanctity of the institution and human person. As Christians we know God is our Father, for our success in having godly families, we must give Him glory

Jenny was so happy about the house they had found. For once in her life 'twas on the right side of town. She unpacked her things with such great ease. As she watched her new curtains blow in the breeze. How wonderful it was to have her own room. School would be starting; she'd have friends over soon. There'd be sleep-overs, and parties; she was so happy It's just the way she wanted her life to be. On the first day of school, everything went great. She made new friends and even got a date! She thought, "I want to be popular and I'm going to be, Because I just got a date with the star of the team!" To be known in this school you had to have clout, And dating this guy would sure help her out. There was only one problem stopping her fate. Her parents had said she was too young to date. "Well I just won't tell them the entire truth. They won't know the difference; what's there to lose?" Jenny asked to stay with her friends that night. Her

TLF Centre News

Thank God for His faithfulness. We have been able to ensure the upkeep of the TLF Centre. We had our usual Breakfast Meeting and we had various activities in the Centre and in our outdoor outreaches. We often receive visitors and others who come to make enquiries. We have alternative power and water. But we cannot have enough of musical instruments, games and sports equipment, diesel and fuel, data credit, call credit, mementoes, bicycles, funds and many other things.  But we also wish to chare this insight with you - "Before You Resign" It is obvious you lacked resolve, courage, and character in a deal. You resigned after much consideration and hurriedly resumed after a call without straightening out grey areas that made you first leave. A lack of character from you. No wonder they toss you like a frying plantain. In the Art of the Deal, a negotiation table is no dinning table. It is a war arena fought with weapons of courtesy, strategy, firmness, and decisiveness. It is whe

I thank God

Today is August 29th and my birthday I AM THANKFUL: FOR THE WIFE WHO SAYS IT'S HOT DOGS TONIGHT, BECAUSE SHE IS HOME WITH ME, AND NOT OUT WITH SOMEONE ELSE.  FOR THE TEENAGER WHO IS COMPLAINING ABOUT DOING DISHES BECAUSE IT MEANS SHE IS AT HOME, NOT ON THE STREETS. FOR THE TAXES I PAY BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM EMPLOYED. FOR THE MESS TO CLEAN AFTER A PARTY BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE BEEN SURROUNDED BY FRIENDS. FOR THE CLOTHES THAT FIT A LITTLE TOO SNUG BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE ENOUGH TO EAT. FOR MY SHADOW THAT WATCHES ME WORK BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM OUT IN THE SUNSHINE FOR A LAWN THAT NEEDS MOWING, WINDOWS THAT NEED CLEANING, AND GUTTERS THAT NEED FIXING BECAUSE IT MEANS I HAVE A HOME. FOR ALL THE COMPLAINING I HEAR ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT BECAUSE IT MEANS WE HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH. FOR THE PARKING SPOT I FIND AT THE FAR END OF THE PARKING LOT BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM CAPABLE OF WALKING AND I HAVE BEEN BLESSED WITH TRANSPORTATION. FOR MY HUGE HEATING BILL BECAUSE IT MEANS I AM WARM. FOR THE PILE OF

Having Children  GOD CREATED CHILDREN  (AND IN THE PROCESS GRANDCHILDREN)  To those of us who have children in our lives,  Whether they are our own,  Grandchildren,  Nieces,  Nephews,  Or students...  Here is something to make you chuckle.  Whenever your children are out of control,  You can take comfort from the thought that  Even God's omnipotence did not extend  To His own children.  After creating heaven and earth,  God created Adam and Eve.  And the first thing he said was  "DON'T!"  "Don't what?"  Adam replied.  "Don't eat the forbidden fruit."  God said.  "Forbidden fruit?  We have forbidden fruit?  Hey Eve... we have forbidden fruit!"  "No Way!"   "Yes way!"    "Do NOT eat the fruit! "  Said God.  "Why?"  "Because I am your Father and I said so! "  God replied, w ondering why He hadn't stopped c reation after making the elephants.  A few minutes later,  God saw His chil

A man was sick and tired of going to work every day while his wife stayed home.  He wanted her to see what he went through so he prayed: 'Dear Lord: I go to work every day and put in 8 hours while my wife merely stays at home. I want her to know what I go through. So please allow her body to switch with mine for a day. His wish was granted. The next morning sure enough the man awoke as a woman. He arose cooked breakfast for his mate awakened the kids set out their school clothes fed them breakfast packed their lunches drove them to school came home and picked up the dry cleaning took it to the cleaners and stopped at the bank to make a deposit went grocery shopping then drove home to put away the groceries.  Then it was already 1 PM and he hurried to make the beds do the laundry vacuum dust sweep and mop the kitchen floor ran to the school to pick up the kids and got into an argument with them on the way home, set out milk and cookies and got the kids to do their homework. Then set

It is our anniversary of Incorporatiin today!

Greetings in love, We thank God Almighty that on this day, August 27th in the year 2010 we formally and finally received our Certificate of Incorporation as an Incorporated Trustee. We thank all those God used to make it a reality. It has been an amazing time since then and we thank God for His greatness. Remember that we are registered for charity and social development. Charity is synonymous to love, because the ultimate law is love. Charitable works cut across all facets of life and living. Just imagine it and believe it, that God will use you to fulfil the good works He set since the foundation of time. Let your light so shine before men and women, children and indeed all creation, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who art in heaven. Orphanages still need assistance. Hospitals still have patients who need help. Families are there with genuine need for assistance. Students are brilliant but stranded for lack of help. NGOs, Foundations, Charities

Recently a "Husband Super Store" opened where women could go to choose  a Husband from among many men. It was laid out in five floors, with the  men increasing in positive attributes as you ascended.  The only rule was, once you opened the door to any floor, you HAD to  choose a man from that floor; if you went up a floor, you couldn't go back  down except to leave the place, never to return.  A couple of girlfriends went to the shopping centre to find some  husbands...  First floor  the door had a sign saying, "These men have jobs and love kids." The  women read the sign and said, "Well, that's better than not having a job or  not loving kids, but I wonder what's further up?" So up they went.  Second floor  the sign read, "These men have high paying jobs, love kids, and are extremely good looking." "Hmmm," said the ladies, "But, I wonder what's further up?"  Third floor  this sign read, "These men have hi

Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, 'I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed'  She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches.  Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.  She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.  She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer.  She watered the plants, emptied a bastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.  She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair.  She signed a bir

A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably coifed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. "I love it," he stated with the enthusiasm of an eight-year-old having just been presented with a new puppy. "Mr. Jones, you haven't seen the room; just wait." "That doesn't have anything to do with it," he replied. "Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Whether I like my room or not doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged it's how I arrange my mind. I

TLF FilmShows!

Inspired by Uncle E and Mount Zion Films, among others! Several years ago we had a film-show in Ekosodin and the feedback was good. So we look forward to many more of such TLF outdoor activities. We thank God for our new projector, our repaired screen, our mobility, our re-designed lighting system, our serviced fuel generator, our newly rewired speakers and our ever ready amplifier and DVD! We cannot forget all those who donated for us to get a brand new Projector in 2020. In our filmshows we communicate good for the good of society, you and I are part of. If we do good and good exists in the society we will all benefit from it. We abhor the porn industry and seek to regulate the music industry. We cannot ignore the infiltration of evil morals in our children's media and cartoons which we vehemently kick against. Overall we applaud those who use audio visuals and public display of films, documentaries and other screen shows to promote charity and social development to God's glo

23rd of June is International Widows' Day

23rd of June is International Widows' Day We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who support widows in one form or the other.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember 1-Timothy 5:16 If any woman of the faith has relations who are widows, let her give them help, so that the care of them does not come on the church, and so it may give help to those who are truly widowed. James 1:27 The religion which is holy and free from evil in the eyes of our God and Father is this: to take care of children who have no fathers and of widows who are in trouble, and to keep oneself untouched by the world. Remember the ultimate law is love. God is love. There is no answer outside of God. Your life in God is most important. In all your research, submit to Jesus Christ and be fervent. Tina Tobo PSLC, BL, Ph.D.  ... the ultimate law is love. #August

Why I Am So Tired!!!  For a couple of years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep,  not enough sunshine, too much pressure from my job,  earwax build-up, poor blood or anything else I could think of.  But now I found out the real reason:  I'm tired because I'm overworked.  Here's why: The population of this country is 273 million.  140 million are retired,  which leaves 133 million to do the work.  There are 85 million in school,  which leaves 48 million to do the work.  Of this, there are 29 million employed by the federal government,   which leaves 19 million to do the work.  2.8 million are in the armed forces  preoccupied with killing Bin Laden,  which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.  Take from that total the 14,800,000 people  who work for state and city governments    and that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.  At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals,  which leaves 1,212,000 to do the work.  As of today, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

Did You Know?

In TLF we are big on education at all levels. Having experienced tertiary education in University of Benin, University of Ibadan, Afe Babalola University and University of Ilorin not to forget the Nigerian Law School, there is the urgent need to cater for the needs of the tertiary environment - staff and students. We also give special mention to those with businesses, religious centres, visitors and parents of those in tertiary institutions. Take for instance in our theme in September especially, focus is completely on issues of literacy and learning. The role of the tertiary institutions we have in Nigeria cannot be overestimated in terms of charity and social development. The tertiary institution is often seen as the finishing school of every individual who has the opportunity to attend.  We acknowledge those who did not attend tertiary institutions by choice or due to circumstances beyond their control, they also form a significant part of the tertiary institutions' community.

Universal Children’s Day

20th November is Universal Children’s Day. We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form or the other of matters of children.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember Psalm 127:3. Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Mark 10:13-16 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. Psalm 8:2 Through the praise of children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. You are invited to attend

Join us to share our tracts.

Please anywhere you see our tracts help ensure they reach the readers and are not destroyed or mutilated. We urge you to come to our Office to get copies to help us share at home and abroad. You can also write for us and\or donate to printing and publication. We usually go out to share inspirational, motivational and encouraging tracts in schools, buses, parks, eateries, and even on the streets.  This picture below was taken at our Centre where we collate our own printed tracts as well as those we get from others for onward distribution. We have numerous tracts and still welcome more. We have had the privilege to work with Tract House through Mr Jolly and Mr Eguare; and Rawel Printers Mr Ehiorobo. We would love to continue to share to the public even as we have most of our logistics. We however need more volunteers who would help write, print, collate, distribute and receive feedbacks from our readers by way of follow-up. While growing up, I received my first tract titled “I’ll Do It
