Month Review

This month we looked at sub-issues under the theme Learning a.k.a. Literacy! Learning entails both formal and informal trainings and tutelage.  It involves the student and the teacher. The United Nations enjoins nations to take seriously the issue of Learning and Literacy as it declared 8th September yearly as International Literacy Day every year to sensitise the public on the issue. Remember in May we dealt with the theme of Communication. Just as communication is important to impact knowledge, we acknowledge that English language has been used in Nigeria as a means of learning. We also celebrate our individual languages and recognise that learning and literacy is also important with our languages. While we are to obey our teachers, we are not expected to allow them or seniors in school to lead us astray or teach us nonsense!  When Jesus is in our learning we will be humble and useful. When people use their learning and literacy to oppress, device bombs, evil and brag, then you’ll kn

Story Time!

A young man was getting ready to graduate College. For many months he  had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealers' showroom, and knowing  his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted. As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his  father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his  graduation his father called him into his private study. His father  told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how  much he loved him. He handed his son beautiful wrapped box.  Curious, but somewhat disappointed the young man opened the box and  found a lovely, leather bound BIBLE.  Angrily, he raised his voice at his father and said, "With all your  money you give me a BIBLE?" he stormed out of the house ,leaving the  holy book. He never contacted his father again for a long time. Many  years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his fa

TLF Centre News

The names Abadina and Ajibode may sound either familiar or unfamiliar to many of us here. These are schools that we have had the privilege to donate school items to and speak. These schools have produced great people in the society. But like many other schools, some of these people have failed to return to right the wrong, support in cash and kind, volunteer to teach, counsel and offer mentorship or just generally encourage the staff and students. While some of us may not be able to attend our TLF activities such as this, we can join in with your prayers, cash and kind. Kindly contact us with contributions, enquiries and suggestions. Our TLF activities have been subsumed in the SBMC which now exists in government owned schools. We attended the trainings and were given stipends. Our mummy Akpofure and brother Ifeanyi and I were present at different days. We learnt a lot and we commit to making the schools around us better functional and catered for. The projects on ground by the SBMC an

Hey Friend!

Donation for the construction of more bookshelves- We will love for you to join us as we raise a minimum of N500 for the payment of stipends for our volunteers who come. Even though the word is voluntary but still they need support in terms of transportation and other things. Without teachers who volunteer to teach music, arts, craft, sports, games, and during our seminars, the TLF Centre will be dormant, locked up and ineffective, God forbid. Besides this financial donation we would also request that you join us to volunteer your time or any other thing that can encourage volunteers and keep them committed. Imagine that this 10 year old Nigerian Maths Genius, Esther Okade has enrolled in Open University, UK. Esther is a British-Nigerian who hails from Walsall. With volunteers we can make the children in the centre even excel more in chess, English spelling bee, violin, piano, mathematics and even science. #September

FOR FRIENDS OF TINA LOVE FOUNDATION (TLF)

God still sits on the throne. Each of you may be going through a tough time right now but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith.  Let's continue to pray for one another.  I think it is a great issue that although there are many people who profess and confess Christianity and Christ but have their hearts far from him, so much so that very few people get led to Jesus by our 'witnessing' in lifestyles not our words. It is kind of embarrassing and sad that we have so many pastors, Christians, churches and ministries (tract, TV, gospel musicians, gospel movies, etc) and yet evil prevails and many are still without Jesus! These remaining ones who are not believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour are not the only ones who perpetuate these evils majorly. It's still done by 'Christians' or people who profess fear of God in other faiths!  I'm starting with myself, let my life bear witness of God's mercy, grace and way, tru

ODB Message

"The Professor’s Confession" by Tim Gustafson This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  1 John 3:16 Horrified by his students’ poor writing habits, renowned author and college professor David Foster Wallace considered how he might improve their skills. That’s when a startling question confronted him. The professor had to ask himself why a student would listen to someone “as smug, narrow, self-righteous, [and] condescending” as he was. He knew he had a problem with pride. That professor could and did change, but he could never become one of his students. Yet when Jesus came to Earth, He showed us what humility looks like by becoming one of us. Stepping across all kinds of boundaries, Jesus made Himself at home everywhere by serving, teaching, and doing the will of His Father. Even as He was being crucified, Jesus prayed for forgiveness for His executioners (Luke 23:34). Straining for every anguished breath, He still granted eternal life to a cr

There are workers of good out there

Join me to sincerely thank brother Ilefoje for helping the people living around Efosa Community and environs in providing a school to cater for over 5 communities.  God willing we shall join the SBMC of the public primary school near the TLF Temporary Centre and join like minds in developing plans to better the school and its infrastructure. We will also be sharing our findings and suggestions to the relevant authorities, parent bodies, alumni and others.  Also know that the 8th of September every year is the “International Literacy Day” (UNESCO 14 C/Resolution 1.441) and we have activities lined up at our Centre to commemorate this day in September along the line of our theme.  At our Tuesdays’ Seminar/Filmshow day, we will be showing “Build a School in the Cloud” by Sugata Mitra organised by TED God willing we shall have our road-market-hangout outreach this month where we will be sharing these devotional among other materials.  Also know that the 1st of June every year is the “Globa

We need you too!

We will love for you to join us as we provide bells, wristwatches and a clock to aid punctuality, time management and orderliness in schools. My nephew was once the punctuality prefect in one of the most celebrated government schools! We also desire to continue in our need to raise money to get more small chairs for children in the TLF Centre. Remember our sister and her husband donated some money that enabled us buy 7 chairs and we desire as many as 20.  The chairs differ in quality and price.  Schools are resuming in different places and we want to make donations to the infrastructure of schools for a better learning environment for our children and leaders of tomorrow. Besides this financial donation as we earlier stayed, we have also decided to provide certain things for the school to aid their teaching in this new session. These things can be donated in kind such as things teaching and learning like learning charts, exercise books, school bags, shoes, uniforms, biros, pencils, whi

Light for Literacy

I’m thinking, when I was in school, government school at that, we had electricity, we had light and even fans. But now many government schools in many states are not even being renovated to have needed light or fans. How can we help? Do we provide light for schools or the individual students? Let us deal with this issue and proffer solutions please? #September

23rd of April is English Language Day!

23rd of April is  English Language Day! We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form of .  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. We know English is a language widely spoken and used in commerce. Remember in the month of May, our theme in TLF is Communication. Inasmuch as we all have our languages and we appreciate and celebrate them, we must acknowledge that in a country such as Nigeria where there are diverse languages, English has helped us to interact with each other, and learn, and read and better understand a number of things derived from the western world. At our centre, we will be having a viewing of “Education - development or title” presented by Dr. Tunde Adegbola organised by TEDxPortHarcourt.  Everyone is invited to participate, invite others and donate towards the organisation. On the other hand, 21st of February yearly is celebrated as International Mother Language Day. Here we ar

May we not do anything in vain. The setting up of our library is in line with our theme for the month of September coincidentally  It’s a case of which came first? The chicken or the egg? We are indeed grateful to God and all our donors for the tremendous support we have had in the running of our multi-faceted library. We acknowledge the contributions from Dr Mrs Agbo and Sam Okhodugha who have donated to our library. The library comprises books, ebooks, journals, magazines, comics, and many other literary materials. We welcome everyone to utilise our library. Remember the ultimate law is love. God is love. TLF FilmShows!

TLF FilmShows! Inspired by Uncle E and Mount Zion Films, among others! Several years ago we had a film-show in Ekosodin and the feedback was good. So we look forward to many more of such TLF outdoor activities. We thank God for our new projector, our repaired screen, our mobility, our re-designed lighting system, our serviced fuel generator, our newly rewired speakers and our ever ready amplifier and DVD! We cannot forget all those who donated for us to get a brand new Projector in 2020. In our filmshows we communicate good for the good of society, you and I are part of. If we do good and good exists in the society we will all benefit from it. We abhor the porn industry and seek to regulate the music industry. We cannot ignore the infiltration of evil morals in our children's media and cartoons which we vehemently kick against. Overall we applaud those who use audio visuals and public display of films, documentaries and other screen shows to promote charity and social development t

#Literacy

#1. Let’s consider what people go through in attaining education. This is deplorable and a serious call to action by I, you, government, NGOs and foreign partners. #2. Let’s consider what people go through presently as against what people did in the past to attain wholesome growth and education. This is a serious call to action so we do not retrogress but progress with our lifestyles and development of the future generations. #3. Let’s consider what people go through in being nourished before, during and after school. This is important and a serious call to action because good nutrition aids better learning. #4. Let’s consider what people go through in supporting the education for needy. Here we acknowledge the works of Miss April Obichie. This is commendable and a serious call to action by other persons with influence and funds as well as government. #5. Let’s consider what people go through in pushing for education for those denied from receiving it for reasons beyond their control.
