In a country like Nigeria, a generation and time such as these, we must be careful with communicating our hearts, minds, ideas, words, actions, opinions and comments.  Be it political, religious, social, moral, financial, traditional, cultural or what have you? Are you a social media troll? are you a cyber bully? do you engage in verbal slurs and use of vulgar words? are your cartoons, memes, graffits and artistic depictions voilent, sexualised and gory? Don't you think you should have a rethink and re-action? Please have a turnaround and change of heart. Most times what we communicate is ent out in time that can never be retrieved. Generations to generations shall hear and know of it even when you no longer hold such views and have repented. Tina ... the ultimate law is love
I was hungry, and you joined a humanity group to discuss my hunger. I was imprisoned, and you ran off quietly to thank God for your freedom. I was naked, and in your mind you debated the morality of my appearance. I was sick,  and you knelt and thanked God for your health. I was homeless, and you preached to me of the spiritual shelter of the love of God. I was lonely,  and you left me alone to pray for me. You seem so holy, so close to God, but I'm still hungry, incarcerated, naked, sick, homeless and lonely. So I ask 'what have you done?' Telling this to anyone you consider a friend  will bless you both.  #Copied TLF💚

TLF Centre News

We have so far printed 3 different brochures for TLF. Our brochures help us to communicate what we do in the Foundation. We thank God for those who have contributed to the printing of our brochures and other materials we use in TLF.  Thank God for His faithfulness. We have been able to ensure the upkeep of the TLF Centre. We had our usual Breakfast Meeting and we had various activities in the Centre and in our outdoor outreaches. We often receive visitors and others who come to make enquiries. We have alternative power and water. But we cannot have enough of musical instruments, games and sports equipment, diesel and fuel, data credit, call credit, mementoes, bicycles, funds and many other things. We commend those who desist from fake news and push wholesome and true information to better the society. Please continue and do so in boldness. We look forward to days of spoken word poetry, guest interviews and seminars at our Centre and communication activities. Join us as we encourage...

30th September yearly is International Translation Day.

30th September yearly is International Translation Day. We know all around the world that one major challenge people are welcomed with when they go/travel to a new place is the issue of language. There are so many languages and when we do not understand ourselves we tend to use pictures or hand gestures or get an interpreter! We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form of promotion of diverse languages and their translations for our common good or the other.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember 1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. 5 I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. Remember the ultimate law i...
"Clear Communication" By Bill Crowder The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26 While traveling in Asia, my iPad (containing my reading material and many work documents) suddenly died, a condition described as “the black screen of death.” Seeking help, I found a computer shop and encountered another problem—I don’t speak Chinese and the shop’s technician didn’t speak English. The solution? He pulled up a software program in which he typed in Chinese, but I could read it in English. The process reversed as I responded in English and he read in Chinese. The software allowed us to communicate clearly, even in different languages. At times, I feel like I’m unable to communicate and express my heart when I pray to my heavenly Father—and I’m not alone. Many of us struggle sometimes with prayer. But the apostle Paul wrote, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do no...

Happy Inauguration Day!

Although Democracy Day in Nigeria has been moved to June 12, today remains an important day in the history of Nigeria’s politics. On this day some years ago, the Military handed over to democratically elected leaders, and so it has been every 4 years since then. Whether we believe in elections or their results, we are affected by the decisions and indecisions of the political leaders in Nigeria. So what should you do? Pray for the leaders. Let us hope that they communicate more with us and match their words with actions! TLF💚 #May  #Communication

A Word: A careless word may kindle strife. A cruel word may wreck a life, A bitter word may hate instill; A brutal word may smite and kill, A gracious word may smooth the way; A joyous word may light the day. A timely word may lessen stress; A loving word may heal and bless. Turn the tables- the luggage-laden husband stared miserably down the platform at the departing train. 'Yes,' she replied, 'and if you had not hurried me so we wouldn't have so long to wait for the next one.' Famine and its cause- George Bernard Shaw, tall and slender, was once told by G. K. Chesterton who was noted for his rotundity: 'To look at you, Shaw, a person would think there was famine in England.' 28th September annually is International Day for Universal Access to Information.

28th September annually is International Day for Universal Access to Information. We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form or the other of making information accessible to all.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Remember Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!" Remember the ultimate law is love. God is love. There is no answer outside of God. Your life in God is most important. In all your research, submit to Jesus Christ and be fervent. When you look at all these fibre optic cables that transmit information through servers and waves and all, you cannot but worship God for the awesome intelligence He has given to human beings! When we access information we are being linked with the knowledge that others do know world over. But in...

ODB Message

“Learning the Language” By  Dave Branon As I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: to an unknown god. Acts 17:23 I stood before the gathering at a small Jamaican church and said in my best local dialect, “Wah Gwan, Jamaica?” The reaction was better than I expected, as smiles and applause greeted me. In reality, all I had said was the standard greeting, “What’s going on?” in Patois [patwa], but to their ears I was saying, “I care enough to speak your language.” Of course I did not yet know enough Patois to continue, but a door had been opened. When the apostle Paul stood before the people of Athens, he let them know that he knew their culture. He told them that he had noticed their altar to “an unknown god,” and he quoted one of their poets. Of course, not everyone believed Paul’s message about Jesus’s resurrection, but some said, “We want to hear you again on this subject” (Acts 17:32). As we interact with...

Happy Children's Day today!

We pray for all children and children who have passed through TLF, we love you all. We celebrate children today. Kindly join us to pray for the quick recovery of our dear friends and family and others who are low in health or their loved ones especially children who cannot celebrate their day today. We pray with 3 John 2 that they be in good health and prosper as their souls prosper. We shall hear good news and read their testimonies in Jesus name, amen. You too can feed the poor and needy. Yes! sophisticated foods and basic food. Nutrition nad healthy living is key to developing a society. Doing this through charitable works, soup kitchens and free food donations is wonderful. Asking about TLF is good, but supporting our causes is better and going ahead to do what you can on your own volition is the best! You can support Charities which are meeting human needs especially for children for good and for God’s glory. #Happy Children's Day #Enjoy Your Holiday Children #May  #Communicat...

Theme Bible Verses

John 8:43 Why do you not understand what I say? It is because you cannot bear to hear my word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But, because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, let everyone speak the truth with his neighbour, for we are members one of another. 29 Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear. Proverbs 15:4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. Psalms 15:1 O LORD, who shall sojourn in Thy tent? Who shall dwell on Thy holy hill? 2 He who... speaks truth from his heart; 3 who does not slander with his tongue, and does no evil...

From Our Folder Stories

Ways To Show Courtesy even in Communication! 1. Don't you ever put a video call across or a social media call to someone especially a stranger at anytime or at an ungodly hour without seeking their permission. You don't know where they are at the time you're calling. Don't you! 2. In case you miss a call, drop a message as soon as possible if you're unable to call back and Reply messages that are sent to you. Everyone counts. 3. Turn the volume down when you're watching video, playing music or playing a game on your phone in a public place or, better use ear or headphones. 4. Don't press your phone or use headphones when someone is having a conversation with you. Especially your elders. It's a sign of disregard and disrespect. Unplug the headsets from your ears even if nothing is playing and give them your undivided attention. 5. When using someone else's phone or computer, don't go through their stuff without permission. You're invading anot...

Excerpts from Ephraim Abutu-

Communication is ubiquitous, so you cannot but communicate. Most times some people think communication have to do with the outspoken word or the ability for one to know how to express himself or herself - this is absolutely far from it. Research has shown that human communicate more with non - verbal cues which is about 85% while 5% or less is verbal communication. So the day you choose to remain quite or keep mute and in your mind, you will think you are gentle, you are indirectly passing out a great information to other people to read more meaning about your personality and this can either be seen as Negative or Positive.  Also, human beings also have different ways in which they exhibit their emotions and this is known as "love language" - the psychologists can tell more about this. So your love language can come in different ways which us also part of non-verbal communication. Most importantly, communication cut across different counties and even organisation.  So when yo...

24th of October is World Development Information Day

24th of October is World Development Information Day. We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form of development of information or the other.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. We must agree that information has developed from generation to generation. We have had generations of town criers to megaphone preachers. We’ve had cars and vans moving with loud speakers and also had radio and TV. From the time of infra red to Bluetooth to xender. From telegraph to postal services to emails. We’ve had Skype, facebook, whatsapp, zoom and many others. How can you suggest that information be improved for the good of all people? Remember our theme is a way TLF contributes to charity and social development. People who have falsely assumed that prisoners are all bad so need no charity; orphanages that have diverted foodstuffs have been generalised to reflect all orphanages; or people’s half ...

23rd of September is International Day of Sign Languages.

23rd of September is International Day of Sign Languages. We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form or the other of providing sign languages to those who require same.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Have you ever seen people with physical disabilities communicate? I have. There was this one time I entered Edo State Comrade Bus, there were a number of school children who entered and everyone noticed that they all communicated among themselves with hand signs. While some use Braille to read, others use hand gestures or signs while others use audio or hearing aids. God is great and makes a way where there seems to be no way.  But many ascribe the ingenuity to man and science, what a miss! It is all God. We are happy to know that ODB (which we want to raise money for this month) is involved in producing materials for people with physical disabilities in order to communicate God...

TLF FilmShows!

Inspired by Uncle E and Mount Zion Films, among others! Several years ago we had a film-show in Ekosodin and the feedback was good. We had earlier had one in Pope John Paul II Hall in UI and other places. So we look forward to many more of such TLF outdoor activities. We have been having more filmshows in our Centre. We thank God for our new projector, our repaired screen, our mobility, our re-designed lighting system, our serviced fuel generator, our newly rewired speakers and our ever ready amplifier and DVD! We cannot forget all those who donated for us to get a brand new Projector in 2020. In our filmshows we communicate good for the good of society, you and I are part of. If we do good and good exists in the society we will all benefit from it. We abhor the porn industry and seek to regulate the music industry. We cannot ignore the infiltration of evil morals in our children's media and cartoons which we vehemently kick against. Overall we applaud those who use audio visuals a...

Did You Know?

In TLF we are big on arts, crafts and creativity. We celebrate creativity. Many people have been able to support charitable causes from creative art exhibitions and sales. Many others have also used their creative works to raise awareness on various laudable causes for social development. Take for instance in our theme for this month, we have selected some creative art works that will help pass our message to us in an artistic way. Also in our Centre, we host children who often come just to draw and make things from recycled materials. We strongly invite you to like our facebook page - TLF Creativity. We also share and retweet such creativity on our X handle that we also invite you to like and share. Our various artworks in TLF add to the posters we paste around and the comics we also produce and share out. Thank you. Facebook.com/TLF Creativity #May  #Communication

Matthew 12:34 You brood of vipers! how can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." Proverbs 26:20 For lack of wood the fire goes out; and where there is no whisperer, quarrelling ceases. 22 The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels; they go down into the inner parts of the body. 21st of November is World Television Day

21st of November is World Television Day. We commend all those individuals, groups, NGOs, Charities, Foundations and others who engage in one form or the other of the use of Television for the promotion of charity and social development. We also commend those who manufacture Televisions and those who sell and freely give to others, the needy and orphanages, among others.  God bless your labour and work of love. May we not do anything in vain. Communication is imperative in these times were fake news abound. It will surprise you to know that even TV stations are not immune to fake news. In this month of #Communication let's work towards encouraging wholesome content on TV and keenly monitor what our children, teenagers, siblings and even couples watch. The eyes are the light of the body. Let us watch and pray towards what kind of communication we let into our lives through the TV. WHO CAN TELL US WHO INVENTED THE TELEVISION? What is your favourite TV programme and what station shows...
