Goodmorning beloved of God,
I travelled recently with a military man in our bus. He's a captain and he said his wife is heavily pregnant. But he had to leave Ughelli en route Abuja to Maiduguri. He was carrying foodstuffs and in particular half bag of garri. He said he used to fly initially but when he considered the cost, it was consuming almost half of his salary. We talked some more and I was reminded of our visit to an IDP camp some time back. Just as soldiers are having it rough at the war front combating terrorists in parts of Nigeria, those whose villages, towns and cities have been ransacked and attacked are even in a deeper dilemma. The sad thing is that many people feel someok else out there somewhere will help. But when we all think that why nothing gets done. I asked them at the IDP if they had been visited by their reps, councillors and leaders from Borno, Adamawa or Yobe, they said no. So where do we go to to get donations in cash, relief materials and temporary re-settlement? International NGOs? When we have capable people in government, religious and business and private sectors?
My prayer to God is for Him to give us provisions to be able to extend to others.
My charge to us all is to become more aware of the needs around us and help be the instrument of God to meet these needs.
