Month Review

  

This month we looked at the theme #New Beginning! We in TLF believe in New Beginnings as it entails the start of everything needed to start a wholesome life. New Beginnings are like foundations where something good and worthwhile can be set up on. Our lives must be built on a proper foundation because if the foundation be faulty what can one do? 

We often pursue riches of the pocket, but we can pursue riches of the mind and heart. For God has told us in His Word that we command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in Him, the living God, Who gives us richly all things to enjoy. They are to do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

As a charity and social development organisation, TLF strives to ensure that all concerned- trustees, members, volunteers, beneficiaries, benefactors and all are circumspect, wise and humble enough to have new beginnings every step of their life's journey. When you are on a wrong road, it takes wisdom, humility and focus on doing right to turn around or divert to the right road. 

When Jesus is in our lives we will surely enjoy freshness, newness, hope and the drive to be on the right path and build on the right foundation. When people use their January to chart a new course and resolve to start anew on the right path, then you’ll know that they have succeeded.

Story Time

  Lisungu Chieza from Zimbabwe was 26 when she was told in 1996 that she was HIV+. "This started my long journey of coping with being HIV+. My husband died in my arms at home eight months later." Not only did Lisungu have to cope with her own illness and losing her husband, but her husband's family also wrongly blamed her for his death. They came to her house, took away his things, and said, "If those children of yours get sick, don't even call us. We won't have anything to do with them or you." They would not even let her go to her husband's burial. "I gave up a college course I had planned to do. All I thought about was death. I neglected my children and myself." But her mother supported her. Lisungu began to find hope again and joined an HIV support group. Then she started to help others who were also HIV+, and took a college course about HIV-AIDS.
